Season 2 – Week #22: An Empty Room with Kara Golemba – “Puzzle”

This week brings singer-songwriter Kara Golemba to the centre of an Empty Room for a performance of her song “Puzzle”!  Found at the crossroads of Folk, Country & Americana, all Golemba needs is her crooked grin, a spark of mischief in her eyes, and a heartfelt story combined with her powerful voice to take her audience on a journey worth remembering.  As the recent winner of the 620 CKRM Proudly Saskatchewan showcase and the Spirit of Saskatchewan songwriting award for “Mason Jar of Memories” (week# 10 of Empty Room) Kara has established herself as a strong up and coming Saskatchewan singer-songwriter.  She recently released her debut 6 song EP “Every Little Light”, recorded at Studio ONE by Jason Plumb, which is available for purchase or stream on all digital platforms.  For more on Kara go to www.karagolemba.com.

Head over to our YouTube channel to watch other videos in the series!  Tune in to CBC Radio the next 3 Monday mornings (including tomorrow) at 8:15am to hear the audio of the newest Empty Room track on the Morning Edition with Sheila Coles.

October 3 – Ha!Man (spoken word & cello performance)

  • Haman & Joke

    Haman & Joke

    Monday, October 3, 2016

  • Doors open 7:30, performance at 8 pm
  • Suggested donation $10, cash bar

This is going to be an incredible, unique performance.  Our intimate gallery is the perfect setting for this “part spoken word, part music” performance by two artists from South Africa and Belgium.

Francois le Roux, aka the HA!Man, is a South African cellist and multi artist that left the classical music environment to embark on a journey of spontaneous music making. Self-managed, a network of support has grown globally over two decades that invites and accommodates the “HA!Show,” workshops in spontaneous creativity and various collaborations. Joining him as partner is Belgian actress and word artist Joke Debaere. Like the term “HA!,” their performances can hardly be rationally defined. Yet with each engagement the trust is renewed that a deeply moving, energizing and healing nerve can be touched and that art can still build community.

The cash bar will be open, admission is by donation, with a suggested minimum of $10.  Doors open at 7:30 pm, and the performance will begin at 8 pm.
