With all 24 videos from this season now on YouTube, you can watch these 12 talented Saskatchewan artists perform anytime you want!  There is so much talent in our home province and we’re grateful to SaskMusic and CBC Radio for helping us share some of that talent with all of you through this series.

You’ve seen the videos of these 12 talented artists, but let’s not forget about the talented man behind the scenes – artistic director for the series Brent Nielsen!  We’d like to give a big thanks to Brent for all the hard work he has put into the series over the last two years.  As camera man, sound tech, editor, and creator of the series, Brent really does it all!

We take songwriters from various backgrounds, put them on stage, and encourage them to share with the audience their songs, the stories behind their work, and a bit about their writing process. This intimate format enables the audience to feel closer to the songwriters and to learn more about them and their creative process. You don’t have to be a songwriter to enjoy this, as long as you enjoy music, this event is for you!

Following the feature performance, there will be an open stage, where anyone is welcome to share one or two of their own songs. Join us for this special night of music and story-telling, and in welcoming these three talented songwriters and performers to the stage… they will be on from 8:00pm to 9:15pm, with our open mic session to follow.

Nov 20 – Guitar Theory Workshop & Jam

Erik Mehlsen (aka Del Suelo)

Erik Mehlsen (aka Del Suelo)

Facilitated by Erik Mehlsen (a.k.a. Del Suelo)
2:00pm – 4:00 pm
By donation ($10 suggested)*
Sunday November 20, 2016

Are you a guitarist who has been playing for a while, but doesn’t know anything about theory or improvisation? Or maybe you have some theory up your sleeve but are in need of some guitarists to practice with? Maybe you like the company of cool people enjoying some music on a relaxed Sunday afternoon.
At the Sunday guitar hangout, musician and author Erik Mehlsen(aka Del Suelo) will cover some basic music theory and explain how it applies to creativity on the guitar. Following this 30 minute lesson, guitarists will be encouraged to stick around and jam with each other, trading tips and insights on what they’ve just learned. The intention of the workshop is to build a community of guitarists and provide a space for those wishing to improve their craft.  While this is a monthly event, there is no pre-requisite required – first timers are welcome to drop in anytime.
