The Empty Room Video Series is a partnership between the Creative City Centre, SaskMusic and CBC Radio in Saskatchewan. Select artists are recorded, both video and audio, in the empty Hague Gallery at the Creative City Centre. The audio track may be aired on CBC Saskatchewan, and the video will be posted on the Creative City Centre’s YouTube Channel. It will be available for each artist to use as they see fit, to promote their careers, upcoming performances, single releases, grant applications or whatever they need.

Please fill out this form to be considered for a spot in the Empty Room Video Series. Only twelve (12) artists will be selected by a jury to record two (2) songs each. You must be a member of SaskMusic to qualify, and your songs must be original compositions.

The deadline for submission is March 31, 2017. A jury will be held in early April and selected artists will be notified by April 30, 2017.

Dec 18/16 Guitar Theory Workshop & Jam

guitar-jam-fb-cover-no-text
Facilitated by Erik Mehlsen (a.k.a. Del Suelo)
2:00pm – 4:00 pm
By donation ($10 suggested)*
All Ages Welcome

Are you a guitarist who has been playing for a while, but doesn’t know anything about theory or improvisation? Or maybe you have some theory up your sleeve but are in need of some guitarists to practice with? Maybe you like the company of cool people enjoying some music on a relaxed Sunday afternoon.

At the Sunday guitar hangout, musician and author Erik Mehlsen (aka Del Suelo) will cover some basic music theory and explain how it applies to creativity on the guitar. Following this 30 minute lesson, guitarists will be encouraged to stick around and jam with each other, trading tips and insights on what they’ve just learned. The intention of the workshop is to build a community of guitarists and provide a space for those wishing to improve their craft. While this is a monthly event, there is no pre-requisite required – first timers are welcome to drop in anytime.

*Your donations will go to paying the workshop & jam facilitator for his time as well as the venue fees.
