Demetra with Robyn Barbour, August 25, Doors at 8pm, $10

Winnipeg’s Demetra is coming to the Creative City Centre on August 25th! Doors will open at 8:00pm and music will start at 8:30. Regina’s own Robyn Barbour will be opening the show!

Demetra is a songwriter, painter, filmmaker, yoga instructor and globetrotter. While based in Winnipeg, her muse has brought her and her art around the globe. Her paintings have been hung in Vienna and Barcelona. Her films have been shown in New York. And her music… well, that’s just now beginning.

With her silken voice revealing a wild soul of the world, Demetra’s songs speak to broad landscapes, icy tundra, and the solitude of the wild. They are manifested in bone-chilling melodies, haunting arrangements and the warm blanket of lush reverb.  Her debut album Lone Migration was formed through her polar experiences – a musical trial by tundra – and brought to light with the recording prowess of Royal Canoe’s Matt Peters. Guests include Rococode’s Andrew Braun and prairie poet Paul Bergman.

Ingrid Gatin with Twin Voices, August 22, Doors at 7:30, $10

Ingrid Gatin is coming home to the prairies for a string of shows across Manitoba and Saskatchewan! After an artist residency in New Brunswick, and a tour from Newfoundland to Montréal, Ingrid has been in the recording studio at hotel2tango with Grammy-nominated engineer/producer Howard Bilerman (The Arcade Fire, Basia Bulat, The Dears).

Her new album 1000 Lives is set to be released this November, and she is coming home to the prairies to get people in the know. With her, she is bringing the two lead members of the new brother/sister Montréal-based band Twin Voices out for a spin around the wheat fields to add to her music, and produce their own lovely sounds at every show.

Strong, soulful and sultry – Ingrid Gatin‘s music shines. A mélange of a french café feel, gypsy music and the blues with an indie feel. Ingrid has been touring by train, writing music in a cabin in the woods — dancing, singing, playing instruments and banging on the floors and walls.

Oh Village with Danny Goertz, August 17, Doors at 8:00, $10

Oh Village is about to embark on their first cross Canada tour and are making their Regina stop at the Creative City Centre on August 17th. Doors will open at 8:00pm and music will start at 8:30. Regina’s own Danny Goertz will be opening the show!

Created in the summer of 2009 under the name Ivory Coast, Oh Village began playing local shows around the Fraser Valley solely for the love of music. As they played more they gained both experience and momentum, and their fan base grew. In April 2011, they gained publicity and a professional music experience by finishing second in Youthink Magazine’s Best Teen Band Competition, beating out over fifty entrants from across the province. Oh Village’s rising recognition drew the attention of a local studio, and the band subsequently released Headlights / Red Death in February 2012.

They mix piano, drums, bass, guitar, and vocal harmonies with non-conventional instruments such as the cello and trumpet, and have been lauded as having a “unique sound, a blend of folk, rock, and alternative.” The four friends have brought together their love for writing original music and their individual musical influences to create a down-to-earth sound that is both uniquely honest and completely inspired.
