Word UP Wednesday, June 27, 7 pm, $5 at the door AT THE ARTESIAN!!

We moved this month’s event to the Artesian!!!  This month we are featuring the final Word Up Wednesday slam competition, hosted by Charles Hamilton from Saskatoon.  The top five will form a team to compete at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word in Saskatoon this October!   Come check it out!  Everyone is welcome, it’s only $5 at the door, which opens at 7 pm.  Slamming starts at 7:30 pm.  Because it’s the finals, we are expecting a bigger crowd than we can handle at the CCC. Just go to the Artesian…it’s a lovely venue run by lovely people.   The Artesian on 13th is located at the corner of Angus and 13th Avenue in the Cathedral Neighborhood.

These poetry slams are hosted by the talented Shayna Stock, with promotional and technical assistance from our friends at Rage Regina, Leah and Alyshia.

Here’s details:  doors open @7pm.  From 7:30-9:30 pm, there will be a poetry slam, with people competing for points from the judges in the audience and some fantastic prizes.  At 9:30, we’ll have an open mic session for those not quite ready for slam action.   To register, e-mail wordupwednesday@gmail.com.

Information for poets:  Your pieces must be no longer than 3 minutes (penalty of 0.2/second for anything over 3 minutes!) You must have 3 pieces prepared, as we’ll have two rounds, followed by a third round of the top three.  If you can, please sign up in advance by emailing.
