Time flies when you’re having fun…

Okay, so this was going to be a monthly blog, and here it is…five months after my last entry in May.  What can I say? I’ve been busy, that’s the truth.  It’s also a bit of an understatement.  I’ve been on a nonstop whirlwind of planning and producing music concerts, art exhibits, workshops, life-drawing classes and fundraising events, plus doing my civic duty by participating in the current planning process undertaken by the City of Regina, plus writing endless grant applications, always looking for new sources of revenue for this place, while finishing the renovations on the second floor, plus continuing to look for whatever sources of revenue I can find to pay the mortgage and bills at home while I’m working here without a paycheque….yup, it’s been a busy five months.

But when I stop long enough to think about what has been happening here at the Creative City Centre, the long hours and endless days of working without any time off seems to be worth it.  I’ve seen some incredible music concerts in our Hague Gallery.  Olenka & the Autumn Lovers, Folk Thief and My Boy Rascal, Steve Brockley; these are just a FEW of the amazing artists we’ve heard here this summer.  I LOVE discovering music that makes me glad to be alive.  Our home grown talent continues to surprise and delight me:  artists like Belle Plaine, BD Willoughby, Danny Goertz, Andy Shauf and the youngsters Kacy & Clayton.  If these are names that you don’t recognize…google them.  Better yet, come see them play when they play here next.  The music we play during intermission and before the show starts is a compilation of artists who have played on our stage.  We’re going to set up a player online so you can listen to their tunes on our website in the very near future.  But my immediate future involves getting the next newsletter out, so that’s the end of this blog.  Hopefully it won’t be another five months before I find the time to stop long enough to post something more inspiring than this.  Maybe I’ll close with my Rule #5, something my grandma always said.  You’ll never get anywhere staying at home. Go. Live.
